Charlie's Corner

I had enjoyed coming to this place for the longest time.  If I could recall correctly, I had visited this place since I was 15.  At that time, the place was dark.  You can't really see the food you order.  The seats are low.  The tables are low.  You set up your own table.  When your orders are ready, they will shine your table with their torchlight and you picked up your food.

The concept now its very different.  Partly I think its due to the govt had upgraded the street lamps of Changi Village.  The chairs and tables had also grown in height.  The chances of you setting up ur own tables and chairs are gone.  And finally the torchlight that informed u that the food is ready is also not there... However, the food doesn't change.  The food still taste as good, after so many years.

If you have not been here, do pay this place a visit.  Its uniquely located at the edge of a hawker center..

Its location, beside the hawker center...

Some of the dishes that we always order
Chilly Dog

Charlie's famous Fish and Chips

Spicy Hot Wings

Its unique way of serving u the drinks, with the ice below.

Oh ya, what is also famous about this place is that it has all sorts of beer.  U can literally find any of our favorite beers here.  I believe its wide collection of beers is as much as Cold Storage.

Do pop by and enjoy an ambiance that doesn't feels like a hawker center and its nice food.   And one more thing, they do serve lunch menus too. :)

Last but not least, they will go for fishing trip on Monday.  So don't visit them on Monday.

Cheers
Ivan

Farmart - Austwine

Looks like I am going to start some food blog next... haha..

OK, I am not a food critic.  Neither am I expert in food.  Like I said previously, I like reasonably price, cheap, food.  I don't have expensive taste bud.

So, how did I ended up at Farmart?  Well, a colleague of mine recommended me to this place where there are nice food, nice ambiance, wide variety of food.  These include BBQ food, Zi Char, Western, etc.  One of his recommendation is Austwine.  So decided to give it a shot.  At the same time, I asked my wife to invite my in laws there as well (since they stay near there).

So, here we are at Austwine...
the ambiance is not that bad, you can choose outdoor and indoor (air con).  Since its like a country side, we decided to try the "outdoor" but my mother in law got bitten by mosquito (i think).
Didn't know what to order, what was nice, so I just try out the Chicken Cutlet.
while my wife shared hers with her sister,
while my father in law ordered the chicken chop,
and my mother in law ordered fish
and my sis in law's bf order this.
After the meal, we decided to order some desserts.  I think its partly due to its share was pretty little and/or I am hungry...

Here's our ice cream and cheese cake.

Don't be fool by the pictures, the cheese cake is pretty small only. :)

Well, I do like its ambiance at Austwine.  However, I need to travel 20+km from my home before I can reach this place.  At the same time, parking is a problem if you are late.  But don't have to worry if you can't find a parking lot inside the car park.  there are lots of space outside and I bet the enforcements won't be coming to such "ulu" place just to book them...

Hope to try the other stalls in Farmart one day!

Gillman Seafood

Food... Who can live without food... I do not have expensive taste bud.  I eat "cheap" food, in particular, cheap and nice...

I can keep eating the same place again and again and again.  something that some people cannot.  They must eat a different dish everyday...

so, are you one of them?

Anyway, wanna introduce this place that I've frequent since young.  I visited their restaurant since they were in Lock Road, off Depot Road.  Not too sure if they have any other places before that and I guess not.  Since they chose their signboard as Gillman Seafood and Gillman Heights was just located opposite the restaurant.

Their restaurant had an unique characteristics, its quiet (which i like), and peaceful.  most importantly, the parking is plentiful and its FREE~

Then, they were somehow forced to shift, to the current location along Telok Blangah located at Yeo's Building.  Similarly to its previous location at Lock Road, its retained its unique quiet and peaceful ambiance.

Today marks their end of their lease at Yeo's building and they are shifting again.  Thought not that far but i think their unique characteristics of quiet and peaceful will not be present at their new location. Their new address is at 78B Telok Blangah St 32, #02-15.  based on the address, i could roughly guess it as its on a HDB estate.  On top of the missing unique characteristics, i guess the next missing thing is its FREE PARKING! now hope my "summon aunt" app from APPLE can help if my coupon expires.

Ok, enough of talking, here's some of the pics of the food that my wife and I love...

Its FREE PARKING

Hope their new location will continued to serve these delicious dishes and I will continue to patronise them.
